Enyzi slowed his pace as he approached the camp of the Guardians, his head high and ears pricked. He had kept up a steady lope through the mountains, following trails only known to the highest echelons of the guards, but even the added height hadn't managed to cool him down under the sun's relentless glare.
His tongue hanging out as he walked a couple paces, he used his other senses, listening to the rustling of the trees and the quiet flutterings of the silent birds, all too well that there was a predator in their midst. Once he felt slightly cooler again, the shade of the trees helping just as much as the cool air over his tongue, he trotted forward once more.
It wasn't all too long before he found the Guardians' camp, a small, central system of dens, around a small clear space where the protectors of the clan gathered. He slowed once more to a walk, a warm, almost fatherly look on his face as he stopped at the edges, settling back on his haunches as he watched the camp's everyday life.

Red Rot was just now returning to the camp where her fellow Guardians stayed. She hadn't been at the camp for the past 6 days and had been keeping to herself... Something she did quite regularly. It was nothing new, not uncommon coming from Red Rot. But she never failed at her job as a Guardian and she was keeping up the good work even if she wasn't sleeping at the camp at night or showing her face regularly.
She didn't fail to notice the presence of an extra set of eyes, but she did purposely ignore it. She ignored the warm fatherly look that was settled upon her Alpha's face. She simply ignored him altogether. If he wasn't barking orders then she wasn't going to look his way and would not acknowledge him until he gave her a reason to glance at him.
Red Rot made her way to her den. She scoped it out carefully, sniffing it and making sure no one had been in it lately before she made her way out of it and started to trot along across the clearing in the center and in the direction she had originally come from.
The black she-wolf was thinking about heading out again. There was nothing interesting going on around the camp anyway and she wasn't up for mingling with the other Guardians. None ever caught her eye, definitely none of the males, but some females did catch her eye yet it was never enough to keep her around. The current female Guardians just weren't...eye catching enough or just didn't rub her the right way. She was difficult to gain the interest of though. Nothing to be taken personally, of course.
Deeper in the forest, two sets of eyes studied a young deer from a thicket. The yearling, still dappled in fading spots, seemed to be completely oblivious to the pinpoints of Amber and icy blue bore into it. It slowly wandered closer to the thicket.
"Now!" the amber set of eyes hissed.
"Patience," the blue set retorted. "Wait until it gets closer."
"It will smell is...NOW!" With that, the amber eyes and the scruffy white wolf attached to them surged forth from the thicket and bounded after the young deer. Though the yearling tried to bolt, its speed was no match for the lithe female wolf. She leapt onto its back and clamped her jaws around the back of its neck.
With a sigh, an ebony wolf loped out of the thicket to help his sister before she fell off the deer and got into a tangle with the yearling's small but deadly antlers. When he reached the struggle, he leapt up to get a firm grip on the deer's throat while the white wolf distracted it. Using his bulky weight, he dragged it to its knees before crushing its trachea with his powerful jaws.
"Thanks for having my back, Reoshen," the white female said sarcastically.
"We would have taken it down quicker if it were closer," Reoshen said in an eve, disinterested voice as he watched the life fade from his prey. "This isn't our territory. We made too much noise. Attracting attention in this region could be fatal, Vitoryxe."
The female named Vitoryxe scoffed. "This forest is vast. Nobody is around for miles. Stop being so paranoid." With that, she lifted her head and began to work up a good howl.
Before she could reach full volume, Reoshen's jaws clamped firmly around the back of her neck in warning.

Enyzi noticed the female approaching the pack, although he didn't move his head, instead following her with his eyes only. She either seemed not to notice him, or chose to ignore him, neither of which he was particularly unhappy with. Had he wanted to catch the attention of the pack, he would have made himself known. Rather, he wanted to watch, to see a part of the life that he missed. Alpha duties kept him from this place, where he had learned so much, not only fighting, but of friendship and loss as well.
However, as a crashing from the faint distance came to his ears, his demeanor changed. It hadn't been the quick scuffle that was typical of Guardian hunts, and anyway, there was no need for hunting. He could see the carcass of a deer near the other edge of the camp already. Ignoring any ranked Guardian that may have taken the lead, he rose, barking out the female's name, along with a couple of other wolves that were around the camp, “Red Rot, Amerigo, Meraxes, to me.” Without looking back to reassure himself that the wolves had heard and obeyed, he left the camp at a lope, using his ears as he searched for the source of the noise.
As he approached, however, they were no longer necessary. The thick, hot scent of blood was in the air, and he followed his nose instead, coming to a stop just before the source of the scent, approaching the epicenter carefully as at least two of the wolves that he had called circled around, cutting off other routes of escape. While they moved, the Timber wolf examined the two who were upwind of him, knowing they were intruders by their scents alone, although they were unfamiliar colors as well. After a few heartbeats to allow them into their positions, Enyzi stepped out of the thicket, his head high, his amber eyes blazing, “Who are you, to dare invade the territory of Sahoni?”
At the sound of the other wolf's voice, Reoshen immediately dropped to the ground and dipped his head in respect. He looked over towards his sister, and to his great disappointment noticed that she was standing in a defensive stance with her eyes locked on those of the wolf who had just approached. It was obvious form this wolf's posture that he was in a position of authority in his clan. The last thing he needed was Vitoryxe offending him. Shooting her a look, he growled softly for her to stand down. "Apologies," he said softly, careful not to look the other wolf in the eye. "We were just passing through and didn't realize we were infringing on your lands. We thought we were I'm neutral territory."
Vitoryxe, however was in no mood to back down. Her stance was deep and the fur along her spine rose, her teeth were slightly exposed. "Stop rolling over like some pup, Reoshen. We have the right to travel and feed ourselves. This guy can just calm down."
Though he expected this sort of behavior from his sister, Reoshen had hoped that just once she would follow his lead. Assessing the wolf, he decided that the two of them could probably match him. With his size and Vitoryxe's ferocity, they stood a chance. However, if what this wolf said was true and they were in Sahoni territory, it was likely they had wandered into the realm of the guardians and they were being watched by countless unseen eyes from the trees.

Red Rot was almost there... Almost free from the camp until suddenly she heard something and her name being called by a familiar voice had followed. She froze in her steps and she glanced over her shoulder to look at her Alpha before she obediently followed, but not before she had released a sigh of almost a hint of annoyance.
All she had wanted was to be alone and now she had to go scope something out with her Alpha and 3 others? She'd try and put up with it and do her job.
Red Rot followed her Alpha, not staying close to him, but not too far either. She simply remained out of sight and while the other two Guardians circled around the source of the noise Red Rot had remained near her leader. She could smell the blood and almost immediately she lowered her head and started to stalk onward. Her fiery eyes looked straight ahead as she followed the smell of blood, as well as the smell of two unfamiliar individuals.
It wasn't long before her Alpha approached the trespassers first and she heard him question them and then heard a response from first a male and then a female, followed by the same male again. The black she-wolf stayed out of sight and was skilled enough to remain unheard as well as she stayed back and listened for her Alpha to give any word for her and the others to attack.
Enyzi watched the vastly different reactions to his appearance, inwardly slightly upset that it looked that this confrontation would not be peaceful, but at the same time, he could feel some joy at the concept of fighting once more. He had sparred with some of the Guardians, under the guise of testing them, but truly to keep his own training in check, but there was nothing like a real fight once in a while. They outnumbered these wolves two to one in any case, and even the hardiest loners would be hard-pressed against four well-trained Sahoni wolves.
The ebony wolf spoke first, and Enyzi turned his eyes to him, although most of his attention remained on the ivory female, who seemed more likely to start anything. He was about to pardon the pair, and send them on their way, as the male seemed sincere enough, when the white wolf spoke, interrupting anything the Alpha might have said.
And with that, his intentions had to change. He might have pardoned loners who had missed the scent markers, had they been respectful, but this female had not only proven herself hostile, but had the gall to attempt to tell him, him, to calm down. Enyzi's eyes hardened, and he looked at the female, his amber eyes boring into hers in a quiet contest, while he spoke, his words carefully placed, “You have the right to leave this territory and find an unclaimed space to feed yourself, otherwise, you will find that we have the right, as you termed it, to make you our next meal.”
Of course, they had no need for meat, what with the carcass laying ahead of them and what was still at the Guardian's camp, but there was no mistaking the coolness in his voice, the lack of heat attempting to convey that this was not an idle threat, but a true warning, “Make your choice.”
Reoshen had expected this reaction to his sister's rash behavior. Had there not been the risk of a fight, he would have rolled his eyes at the predictability of every delicate situation Vitoryxe was involved in. When it came to diplomacy, she was truly a nightmare. She was also ruining everything. Saying that they had trespassed into Sahoni territory on accident was a lie on Reoshen's part. In all reality, he was secretly hoping to find a Sahoni male to take care of and mate with Vitoryxe, leaving him to carry on his life in blissful solitude.
"Please excuse my sister," he said in a soft, neutral voice as he kept his head bowed. "She's not very level-headed. You see, we've had very limited contact with other wolves in our lifetime. I beg pardon, but also ask for refuge for the night. We have traveled long and far and could use rest. If you let us stay in your camp we will be gone by sun-up."
Vitorxye relaxed her stance a bit, finally catching in and following her brother's lead. She kept her eyes locked onto the male in front of her arrogantly as she settled back onto her haunches. As she did so, a slight breeze carried the scent of other wolves to her keen nostrils. She shifted her eyes briefly to the trees and caught a glimpse of a black wolf with smoldering eyes. Vitoryxe briefly made eye contact before turning her attention to the male as she and her brother waited for an answer.

Red Rot was simply amused by this encounter. The exchange between her Alpha and the loners put a small almost unnoticeable smirk on her face and she shook her head lightly from side to side. She was not one to show much emotion but when others weren't looking she was full of expressions. These loners obviously did not do well at teamwork. One said one thing and the other said the opposite. It was a confusing thing but Red Rot could clearly tell that these two simply didn't agree with the other ones decisions and both had different things in mind on what they wanted. The black she-wolf soon rolled her eyes when the male asked for permission to stay the night. She wondered what her Alpha would say.
Red Rot found an area that allowed her to have a small glimpse of the loners that her Alpha was speaking to. She spotted the black male first but then her fiery eyes landed the white female and this is where her gaze remained for a good lengthy moment. She did not look away when the female noticed her and made eye contact with her briefly. Instead Red Rot lifted her head a bit with curiosity and abandoned her stalking stance. But her curiosity did not remain for very long as she soon returned to focusing on her job and was still awaiting for her Alpha to give some type of order. While waiting she moved along to avoid any further attention and she stayed very deep in foliage.
Enyzi stifled a snort at the request that the black male put forward. What in the world was he expecting, of such a request? No wolf in their right mind would bring two unknown loners, one of them hostile, back into their camp. However, his gaze remained on the white female, his eyes boring into hers, “I will excuse her this once. However, my generosity will only go so far.” He didn't like the arrogance in the female's gaze, but as her gaze darted to something behind him, he took the small victory, and turned his attention more fully on the diplomat of the pair.
“You will not remain here. We will escort you to the edge of our borders, where you may rest should you wish, as long as you are on your way before sunrise.” And he could warn the patrol to keep an eye out for this pair, when he had deposited them somewhere, especially in the morning.
His mind leaped from option to option within the moment, before he spoke, “Red Rot, I would appreciate you joining us, to help me guide our visitors to the edges of our borders.” He hoped that the other two wolves, who had managed to stay silent and unnoticed thus far, would get the hint that they were to remain so. Should the pair notice them, however, it was of no concern. Let them know that there were more than two wolves present. If they didn't, then, well, Enyzi would have an ace to play should he need to.
After briefly orienting himself, as to where the closest border was, Enyzi took a step forward, hoping that the pair would follow willingly. Although he led a step ahead, his ears were turned back to the trio, trying to interpret any unexpected motions before they could possibly turn into an attack.
"Fair enough," Reoshen said with a respectful dip of the head. He stood up, now keeping an eye on the dark female that had been called out of her hiding place. There was at least one of the infamous Guardians in their presence. He waited a bit before following behind the pair at a respectful distance. He shoulder checked Vitoryxe, signaling her to fall in step with him.
"You need to learn to guard your tongue in the future, Vitoryxe," he said softly enough for only his sister to hear. "We are not here to make enemies."
"There is no purpose to be here at all," Vitoryxe hissed to her brother. "What are you playing at? You may as well have exposed your belly to him. We don't need friends. We don't want friends..." Vitoryxe trailed off as she studied the dark female. Red Rot the male had called her. Vitoryxe studied her. She looked very much like her brother with her black pelt, but something about those eyes that shone like embers intrigued her. Vitoryxe wondered what it would be like to be a Guardian and patrol the wilds like these strange wolves."

Red Rot trotted ahead to be near her Alpha after he had called upon her. She stared ahead for awhile in silence before she gave her Alpha a side glance with those bright eyes of hers. Did he really trust these loners to leave in the morning and never trespass upon this land again? The black she-wolf definitely didn't believe these outcasts would leave. With all the loners she had met during her time as a Guardian not one lone wolf would just come and go only once... No, she noticed they liked to come and go multiple times even after receiving multiple warnings. She wondered if these two wolves would be the exact same and would be returning again anytime soon. Either way if they wanted a fight then she'd be more than willing to accept one. She needed some excitement in her life and a fight sounded good enough.
Red Rot eventually looked over her shoulder and her fiery colored eyes examined the two wolves for a moment. That white she-wolf was staring at her, again. She was tempted to say something but she held her tongue and looked onward and kept her head low as she always stayed ready for a possible fight.
Enyzi padded on, only stopping once he had met the scent markers that denoted the end of Sahoni's territory, near the edge of the vast forest. He turned to the pair that had followed him, eying the female before looking at the male, who seemed the more reasonable of the two, “You may sleep here. Do not wander within our territory again, we will not pardon another trespass after you have been warned.” He stepped away, leaving the two as he headed in the direction of the deeper forest once more, stopping once he was sure that they had traveled beyond the hearing range of the strangers before he looked around.
It wasn't too long before two sable wolves joined him, the males that had stayed hidden. He looked at the group of his Guardians, then a small, satisfied grin crossed his lips, “We're not leaving them alone, I promise. They're probably expecting it, too, and I don't want them to have to look to hard. Red Rot, if you're willing, I would like you to be the obvious watcher. They know who you are, it wouldn't be surprising for you to have the job of watching them.”
The grey wolf turned to the others, “You two, on the other hand, they know nothing or little about, and I would prefer it to stay that way. Position yourselves in line with Red Rot so that they can't loop around you, but stay further back. Only show yourself should they be about to turn into our territory.” In that case, all chaos would break loose, but they probably knew that, “Should anything go outside of the plan, follow Red Rot's orders.” The female was quiet, but she seemed to know what he was doing, and it might be a good test for her, should something out of the ordinary happen.
Sitting back on his haunches, he looked at the three, “Don't take risks, but you know that. I know you will all do well.”
"I wonder if that male has a mate," Vitoryxe scoffed once the male and his companion called Red Rot had left earshot. She yawned and stretched deeply before settling down on a bed of pine needles. "I doubt it. Seems way too tense. It's not like we were going to go on a killing spree or anything."
"He was defending his clan," Reoshen said, only half paying attention to his sister. He highly doubted that he and Vitoryxe were alone at the moment. Any sane leader would have them watched, especially after Vitoryxe showing herself as she had. Rather than be upset, he decided to manipulate the situation. "We would benefit from being in a clan like this. Protection like that would do us some good."
"And what exactly would we do in a pack?" Vitoryxe rolled her eyes as if her brother's idea was absurd. Pack life held no appeal in her eyes. She wanted to run, to be free, and to not take orders from any other wolf. Reoshen was all she needed. Still, there was something that intrigued her about the wolves they had encountered in the forest tonight. They seemed dangerous and wild despite the fact that they clearly had a social structure. The black female's eyes passed through her mind again and she couldn't help but feel impressed by just how powerfulthe female's presence felt. Vitoryxe envied her.
"It wouldn't hurt you to find a mate," Reoshen said simply. "Someone to take care of you and provide you with pups."
"I'm not mother," Vitoryxe growled, sitting up from her bed of pine needles. "Or is that what you want for me? Mouths to feed and an early grave? I have you. There is no one else I need."
"My mistake," Reoshen said calmly as he trotted off imto the side of the forest that was not marked, leaving Vitoryxe alone.

Red Rot had followed her Alpha away from the two and was already predicting they would soon have to stop and have a 'pow wow'.
Soon enough they did stop and her Alpha spoke to her and the other two Guardians that had remained hidden during the whole encounter with the pair. She listened carefully and she looked in the direction they had left the pair. Red Rot didn't show any emotion in response to everything her Alpha was saying but the way her ears moved, one facing Enyzi, showed she was listening and obeying.
Without saying anything Red Rot flicked her ears forward, letting them face forward on her head, and she walked away from her Alpha and began working on the task her Alpha had assigned to her. She didn't have to speak anymore for those in her pack to understand if she agreed or disagreed. Most had learned to just...get her. Her actions were simply enough to give away if she acknowledged or not.
It wasn't long before came upon one of the loners...the ivory female. Red Rot didn't try too hard to remain hidden either. She wanted to be obvious but at the same time she wasn't too keen on receiving any attention. Immediately the black she-wolf lowered her head, almost like she was stalking prey and her bright eyes scanned the area. She could smell the male but could not see him and she clearly understood he was not nearby and must have wandered off. Red Rot kept her distance from the white female as she went ahead and sniffed around, trying to figure out how old the black males scent was in the area. When she noticed it wasn't old and he must not be too far off she went ahead and turned her attention to the white female. She lifted her head a bit and eyed her, tail hanging limply at her hocks and her ears sitting relaxed on her head. Red Rot wasn't sure what she thought of these loners, but if anything she found the female more interesting than the male. The female was more rash while the male was more aware and careful. She was hoping for this female to make this guarding duty a little more interesting with some rash behavior but Red Rot didn't let her hopes get up too high.
