There is Cheyenne, the one in the back, and then Mariska is the chocolate and white one. Mariska had just gotten her coat shaved off before I took this picture. Middle of summer during that time so I thought it'd be best to take her to the groomers and have her coat chopped off. Now her coat though has grown back and she looks like a chocolate marshmallow again :3 As for my big dog Texx? She is was a stray I adopted. My friend found her and asked if I could take her in and so I did and I've had her for almost 3 weeks now and she is the biggest baby ever. Just a big cuddle bug. She thinks she is a lap dog. Whoever had her before trained her very well because she knows all types of commands. I love her to death.
And for this fine evening and myself? Well, I'm doing very well on this lovely evening :3 How about you?
Ahaha, Mariska looks somewhat like a lion, with that mane! And I adore Texx, she's so cute! (Okay, all three of them are. X- P ) Aren't well-trained strays just awesome? I know they were always fun when I was volunteering at our shelter, such a nice surprise.
Glad to hear! <3 I am doing well, thank you. :- ) Glad my longest day of the week is over. (Not technically the longest in actual time, but my classes are spaced out from 9-7, with breaks that are almost too short to do anything decent with.) But I'm enjoying the program I'm in, we flipped sheep yesterday and I got the biggest one down, so I'm somewhat proud of myself there. X- P And next Monday I get to start volunteering at the horse barn across from my dorm, so yay!
Oh my goodness... Sheep. Are they soft? We have some sheepskins at the place I work at and they are super soft but I find it hard to believe that a live sheep would have the same texture. I want to flip a sheep now, haha. Aww, I love horses. You're so dang lucky! I want pictures of the horses. You should totally take pictures when you start on Monday :3
We have a farm right across from my neighborhood. Plenty of horses there and the cattle just got moved to a new area because they redid the whole street that is right alongside the property. Then there is a field behind my house. Literally. It is my house, my backyard, field, forest, then the creek. Yep. In that order, haha. We get a bunch of coyotes in my neighborhood. Always gotta be careful with our small dogs.
Random is a good thing. We'll get along just fiiiiine I'm random too.
No, they're not really. The sheep our school has are mainly Suffolk and Hampshires (both meat breeds, they have relatively course wool), and the big one I got was what they call a Polypay (versatile, kinda medium wool, kinda medium meat), but she's really a "What in the world got into the barn?!" X- P And they had a number of burrs in their coats. But yes, before they sell the wool, it gets neat and cleaned and things, and you'd probably use fine-wool sheep for that. X- P
I shall take pictures! They have a bunch of things going on this week, which is why I can't go out there yet, but I'm really excited, and pleased. {Next year, I'm hoping to actually do a barn residency in this exact barn, so good way to get to know the people!}
That's awesome!! Your home sounds really pretty. :- P I've mainly lived in a small city, and here I'm somewhat in the middle/edge of campus. I hope your dogs don't get eaten!
Yeah, the sheepskins we have are super fine. My coworkers and I are always laying on them, haha. I've never actually been around an actual sheep. Just goats and whatnot. Horses, goats, mules, donkeys and cattle are what I've been raised around. Oh, and then chickens but honestly chickens frighten me with their huge talons so I stay away from those guys. I'm a chicken around chickens . For a coastal town we have a looot of farmland more inland, which I live more inland so I have all the fields around me.
My dogs are always supervised, especially my 2 small ones. I always go out there with them and watch them to make sure nothing happens. As for Texx? She takes care of herself and the backyard is fenced in and I put chicken wire all along the bottom of the fence and a good foot into the ground just for extra safety against any wild animals trying to get into the backyard. But for Mariska and Cheyenne the extra threat are the hawks around here. Crazy birds.
Hahaha, I have a lambskin that's still relatively new, it's soft. X- P My parents, on the other hand, have had their sheepskin rugs for... About sixteen or seventeen years, and they're getting worn (at the same time, mine is storebought. Theirs are from animals my grandparents raised).
Chickens are scary!!! And brave, actually. They will come at you. (I'm not a fan. Although some are pretty. X- P )
Hahaha, that's good. :- P And yes, crazy birds, but small dogs don't look too different from their other prey, I'd guess.
I can see that I'm a bit late for the party, haha! Let me see if I can catch up..
Your dogs are beautiful Like Besu, I, too, am an animal lover! Red, your neighborhood sounds amazing! Besu, I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. I live in a smallish medium town, which is hard to explain but we have a lot of deer in the middle of town, but not too many coyotes. I'm in Southern Ohio, so there's a lot of farms, which means lots of sheep and cows, but I honestly couldn't tell the different between types of sheep.
I have to say, I'm extremely relieved to hear that I'm not the only one at least slightly scared of chickens. My grandma owns a dairy farm and has several chickens, and I have always been a bit nervous around them. My family thinks I'm crazy o.O
I had to physically restrain myself from using too many exclamation points, hah. I have very happy to have you both here, and I look forward to rping with everyone
Man, I'm starting to feel as if I'm the only one around here who doesn't work in close proximity to animals.
Don't worry about it! :- ) I'm just lucky enough to be at one of the biggest ag. unis in the world, so I just recently got the chance to. <3
We won't hold it against you!
Haha! Thanks! I did used to show horses in high school, so that has to count for something. Other than that, I definitely work in the inner-city where the most wildlife we get are the morbidly obese squirrels that everyone feeds on their lunch breaks.
