Name:Thistle "Swamp Dog" The Halfbreed
Age: 4
Gender: Female
Clan: Waya
Rank: Alpha Female
Appearance: Unlike the majority of her clan mates, Thistle is not a pure maned wolf. Rather, she is the result of an alpha's son and an illicit love affair with a Kawi clan member. This resulted in her being stockier than the average Waya member, but still in possession of long, lanky legs and large, rounded ears. Her markings and the texture of her coat are similar to her mother's, but the dominant coloring is red like her father's. She is lean and lanky with rich, brown eyes that seem to blend in perfectly with the swamps she proudly calls home.
Personality: An appropriate word to describe Thistle is "approachable." As alpha of her clan, she finds it very important for those in her charge to be able to communicate freely with her. She also uses this trait with wolves outside her clan and is a respected diplomat.
While not afraid to fight to the death defending her clan from harm, Thistle prefers to avoid conflict at all costs. Growing up, she witnessed enough fighting from her parents' generation to last a lifetime and believes the death of any wolf is a senseless waste.
As as a true lover of life, Thistle tries to devote as much time as possible appreciating the world around her. Often she can be found wandering the swamps and waterfalls studying the flora and fauna around her or just gazing up at the sky. She loves the company of other wolves and the stimulation of a challenging conversation. Thistle also has a soft spot for pups and will often make time to play with those in her clan. Not so secretly, she hopes to have pups of her own.
Thistle is though as nails and an apt leader, but she also has a pronounced sense of humor. She can often find the humor in any situation, though some may find her sense of comedy dark. However, her ability to not take life so seriously has made her a beloved leader in her own pack as well as those she considers allies.
Family is very important to Thistle and she has a close bond with her parents as well as her sisters, Rowan, Willow, and Holly.

History: As mentioned above, Thistle was the result of an unlikely pairing. However, love knows no bounds and that is how Thistle and her sisters came to be. Her father, a maned wolf, was the son of the Waya alpha couple and from on of the purest bloodlines of the territory. Much pressure was put on him as their only heir to find a female of a respectable bloodline who would one day be his alpha female. All this changed, of course, when a wayward female from the Kawi Clan blustered into Waya territory and stole her father's heart.
Of course, her grandfather was absolutely furious when he finally received the news that not only had his son chosen an outsider for a mate, but she was also carrying his grand pups. He strongly considered banishing Thistle's father. However, with reasoning from his own mate, the alpha let Thistle's father stay in the pack to claim his birthright. Thistle's mother, however, was never allowed to be a full pack member, and therefor not assume the role of alpha female at her mate's side.
Thistle's father was an honored leader of the clan for several years until the considerably older female who assumed the role of alpha female when he took power passed away. Without his co-alpha, Thistle's father decided that it was time to step down and live out the remainder of his life happily with his mate. Without any male pups to take his place, he chose the largest and most robust of his daughters to take his place.
This is how Thistle came to be the alpha of the Waya clan. Unlike her grandfather, the Waya clan seemed to have no problem accepting a leader of mixed bloodlines and even gave her playful nicknames that she embraced in good humor. In her earlier days as alpha, she depended heavily on the council of her parents. As she became more confident, she proved to be very capable in leading the clan and forming relations with outside clans.
